Signature destinations

José Ignacio · Garzón · Carmelo · Colonia · Rocha · Montevideo
Quiet luxury along the Atlantic — vineyard lodges, design hotels and a coast that still feels found, not built.

Buenos Aires · Mendoza · Patagonia · Estancias · Wine country
A continent in one country — European cities, glacier valleys, working estancias and some of the world's most refined wineries.

Atacama · Torres del Paine · Santiago · Colchagua · Valparaíso
From the driest desert on earth to the wind-carved towers of Patagonia, paired with the rising design culture of Santiago.
Signature experiences
These are not activities on a checklist. They are quiet, generous moments designed into your journey — the kind that only happen when you know where to go and who to know.

Uruguay & Argentina
The fire is lit before dawn. Four generations of the family raise cattle on this land. You arrive as the coals glow white, share maté with the asador, and eat slowly as the afternoon stretches into evening.

Buenos Aires
A hidden milonga in a historic salon, not a show for tourists. After the last dance, a short walk to a closed-door restaurant in Palermo where a chef who trained in Europe cooks for eight guests a night.

Córdoba · Patagonia
A full day away from trails and timetables. Ride with a local gaucho through landscapes unchanged in a century, stop for maté under a caldén tree, and return as the light turns gold.

Mendoza · Garzón · Colchagua
A private tasting not in a tasting room, but in the cellar or among the vines with the person who made the wine. Five hectares, one family, one philosophy. Lunch is cooked from ingredients grown on the property.

José Ignacio
A quiet walk through the dunes as the light turns amber, ending with a drink at a small wooden bar where the owner has been making the same cocktail for thirty years. No music. No rush. Just the sea.

San Pedro de Atacama
A private astronomer, a bottle of wine, and the clearest sky on earth. The Atacama Desert at night is silence made visible. This is not a tour. It is an evening of wonder.

Why the Southern Cone
The Southern Cone offers one of the most compelling combinations in the world: wild landscapes, world-class wine, remote lodges, estancias, desert, glaciers, Atlantic beaches, European-influenced cities and deeply local culture.
In one journey, travelers can experience Buenos Aires' architecture and food culture, Mendoza's vineyards, Patagonia's glaciers, Chile's Atacama Desert and Uruguay's quiet luxury coast.
The studio

Rare South was founded by Juliette — French-Uruguayan, based in Uruguay — after years of living across Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. She fell in love with the region not as a visitor, but as a local: the unhurried hospitality of an estancia, the quiet beauty of a vineyard at dusk, the warmth of a family kitchen in Garzón, the authenticity of places that do not try to impress.
The studio was created for travelers who want more than a hotel list. It is for those who seek journeys that feel intentional, beautiful and deeply rooted in place — designed with the sensibility of someone who knows these landscapes intimately and wants to share them with discerning travelers from Europe and the United States.
Every itinerary is shaped by a refined eye for boutique hospitality, culture, aesthetics and the kind of local experiences that cannot be found in a guidebook.
